Holy Thursday

St. Louis Catholic Church, Waco, 2026

On Holy Thursday, the beginning of the Sacred Paschal Triduum, the Church remembers the Institution of the Eucharist during the Lord’s Supper the night that he was betrayed. The Church also commemorates the Mandatum, the command to love and serve one another by following Christ’s example where the priest washes the feet of 12 men of the parish. This first part of a three-day liturgy ends in the night with a Eucharistic procession to an altar of repose, which symbolizes Christ’s own agony in the garden of Gethsemane.
